Sri Lanka is a year-round destination, but the experience changes with the seasons.

West & South Coasts / Hill Country: Best from December to April when the weather is sunny and dry.

East Coast: Best from May to September, with calmer seas and golden sunshine.

Traveling to Sri Lanka is simple. Most visitors can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online before arrival. The process is quick and saves you time at the airport. Just bring a passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. On arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a smile and a stamp — and your journey begins!

The local currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). Cash is handy for small shops, tuk-tuks, and markets, but credit/debit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and major stores. ATMs are easy to find in towns and cities. Always keep some smaller notes for tips, street food, and local purchases.
